‘해외 작가 교류전’을 중심으로 다양한 전시를 기획, 선보여 왔습니다. BMW Foto Futures는 사진계의 신진작가들을 선발해 한국사진의 미래를
보여준다는 의미입니다. 열정과 실력을 갖춘 신진작가들을 발굴해 전시를 열어주고 나아가 그들이 사진계에 굳게 자리잡을 수 있는 기반을 마련하도록 하는 데
목적이 있습니다. ‘해외 작가 교류전’은 고은사진미술관과의 유기적인 연계를 통해 해외의 유망한 작가들을 선발해 교류해 왔습니다.
BMW Foto Futures는 매년 새로운 주제를 결정해 그 주제에 부합하는 작가들을 선정합니다. 선정된 작가는 BMW Foto Futures에서 본인의 전시 기획단계부터
종료까지 전시 전 과정에 함께 참여하게 됩니다. 이는 전시 공간의 특성에 따라 작품이 어떻게 달라지는가를 파악해 그에 따른 공간의 해석에 관한 훈련입니다.
이 과정을 통해 작가는 자신의 작품에 가장 효과적인 전시 방식을 스스로 찾고 자신의 작업을 재점검하는 기회를 가지게 됩니다.
즉 작가가 자기 작품의 특성을 파악해 작가로서 성장하는 자생력을 키우는 기회가 될 것입니다.
BMW Photo Space는 앞으로도 기존의 접근방식과는 다른 시선으로 사진 매체의 가능성을 쉬지 않고 탐색하는 국내외 작가들의 작품을 골라
전시함으로써 동시대 사진의 새로운 면모를 보여줄 것입니다.

BMW Photo Space has curated and presented a wide variety of exhibitions including BMW Foto Futures program for discovering and supporting emerging Korean artists, in addition to Exchange Exhibition of International New Talents to introduce new photographic trends around the world. The exhibition title ‘BMW Foto Futures’ shows how the young photographers selected by the program are to become the future of Korean photography. It aims to uncover new talents with passion and skills to give them a chance to exhibit their work, and furthermore provide them with a foundation that they can stand on to grow into the essence of photography scene. For Exchange Exhibition of International New Talents, the Space has worked closely with GoEun Museum of Photography to select and interact with promising overseas artists.
Every year, a new theme is selected by BMW Foto Futures along with artists best fitting the theme. These artists participate in the entire preparation process held at BMW Photo Space, from planning the exhibition to closing it. It is to train the artist to better interpret the space by understanding how the artworks can change depending on the features of exhibition space. By doing so, the artist is able to discover the most effective exhibition method for his or her own work, and assess one’s project once again. It will be a chance for the photographer to develop independence as an artist by apprehending the characters of one’s own work.
BMW Photo Space will continue to select and exhibit the works of Korean and international artists who ceaselessly seek unconventional approaches to explore the potential of photography media, so that it can present the new faces of contemporary photography.
